The Professional Master Course
- The Professional Master Course is divided into Five Learning Modules with Intermodular Webinars and Mentored Case Rounds between each module.
- The program is designed for live attendance for optimum learning, but all lectures will be recorded to be viewed on our online learning platform.
- Students have found being able to re-listen to lectures (even after live attendance) invaluable for their studies.
- Students have unlimited access to all lectures until the end of the course.
- The PIVH utilizes an interactive classroom teaching style with lecture, discussion, and casework; utilized to facilitate different student’s learning styles.
- Our lecture style is described as dynamic and engaging, creating a safe participatory environment to balance the right combination of lecture and partaking in active discussion (where it is often said the “real learning” happens).
- At the PIVH, we insist on a high student to faculty contact ratio in all of our courses, and strive to provide supportive mentorship throughout the entire course via an online student forum, interactive class discussion, and one-on-one mentoring.
- Problem-based learning (PBL) case study application is used throughout every module, bringing the theoretical to the practical, thereby engaging students to build the foundations for homeopathic clinical practice.
- PBL casework enables students to work through and solve real cured cases in a step-by-step process. You will learn how to: take a case, follow a homeopathic work-up process and methodology, prescribe, interpret remedy responses, and manage clinical case progress, including supportive care and client management considerations.
- Actual cured clinical cases are choosen for PBL study so students will find out the clinical outcome of their descisions during class. This process helps to solidify the correct learning principles of their case management choices.
- Students find the PBL case work critical in achieving clinical confidence and success outside the classroom.
- There is homework study throughout the course year with a final exam to be completed electronically after completion of the final Learning Module.
- Students will receive a comprehensive digital workbook (if printed will fill a 4″ binder) which includes detailed handouts inclusive of all lecture notes, additional reference materials, class resources, etc. While we always encourage note-taking during class, all the information presented will be included in full detail within the handouts.
The Course Length
- Course length is designed to allow both an immersive study experience and a work-life-study balance.
- Students have the opportunity to practice their own clinical case work with dedicated mentoring, which is vital to success.
- Similar to clinical rotations in veterinary school, mentored case work brings our studies to life and truly facilitates students moving through the learning stages.
- Achieving this balance of depth and duration of study is critical to reach mastery and obtain the deeper understanding of classical homeopathy needed to tackle the complex multilayered chronic cases that we so commonly see in practice.
- We cannot stress enough that the length of the PIVH program is imperative for both the ongoing mentorship and the time needed to achieve understanding of successful prescribing for chronic case work.
- After the provided 18 month curriculum of live lectures, an additional six months is provided for students to complete their final clinical case work submissions, their final exam and final exam review webinar lecture weekend, and clinical case rounds webinars for ongoing support as they enter homeopathic clinical practice. During this time access to the learning platform is continued for students to review any lectures from through the course year.
The Online Schedule
- Each of the five Learning Modules are divided into two online sessions, part 1 and 2, e.g. Module 1.1, Module 1.2, Module 2.1, Module 2.2, and so forth.
- Online modular sessions (two per Learning Module) will each consist of three days of live online lectures, which will be recorded.
- Schedule of the online modular sessions will be: Friday through Sunday, with virtual class beginning at 08:30 PST / 11:30 EST and ends at 16:00 PST / 19:00 EST. Each day includes 6 hours of live lectures with regular breaks (including lunch) scheduled throughout.
- In Sum, five Learning Modules comprising of two online sessions each = 10 three-day online sessions over 18 months.
- Learning Modules 1-5 are scheduled with eleven to fourteen weeks between each module to enable assimilation of coursework through homework study, clinical case work, intermodular webinars and virtual case rounds.
- Students find this time between Learning Modules essential for study and clinical application of each session’s material, and as equally important to generate sustainability in work-life-study balance!
In Between Learning Modules
- Intermodular webinars and virtual clinical case rounds:
- Provide the opportunity to review key concepts and learning issues directly with the faculty to facilitate your advancement throughout the program.
- Cover topics from theory, case presentations, homework review, and your own clinical case queries.
- Offered live every 2-3 weeks during the program (e.g. more frequently in the beginning when more support is needed), for 3 hour sessions.
- Homework Study between each session includes:
- Reading, practical and theoretical homework, and clinical case assignments.
- The homework is designed to solidify key learning concepts, provide practice case work, enhance developing skills, and most importantly identify any knowledge gaps in one’s learning.
- We advise that for every hour in lecture students should plan on 1-3 hours outside of class in homework study, as are the standard recommendations in higher education.
- Faculty guidance provided through daily forum activity and email support.
